FAQs
What is stainless steel?
Can stainless steel rust?
How can I be certain it's a genuine GLOBAL knife?
The rise of "third-party" markets where merchandise is sold through non-affiliated websites mean that knives purchased online might not be genuine. Any knives purchased through such channels do not carry a guarantee and we strongly recommend against such transactions. For more information, click here.
My knife is chipped, what should I do?
Chips in the blade:
Small chips in the blade can occur through regular use of the knife and can be fixed by using a whetstone or a minosharp pull-through sharpener. For larger chips in the blade, we recommend that you get your knife professionally sharpened. Your local knife shop should be able to assist in repairing your knife.
Since chips in the blades are not due to manufacture fault, they are not covered under the GLOBAL warranty.
Larger chips in the blade:
Larger chips in the blade are irreparable and can occur through misuse. Risks where this may happen include cutting through frozen food, bone or any such product that is too dense for proper knife use. The GLOBAL Knife warranty is only valid for manufacture fault and therefore does not cover damage through misuse.
Broken knife tips:
Broken knife tips often occur when knives are dropped. Damage to broken knife tips are not covered by the GLOBAL warranty.
What are the most common causes of stainless steel rusting or corroding?
To care for your knives, we recommend you to follow the instructions in the Knife Care section of the website.
What do I do if I have dropped my knife?
What do I do if my knife has snapped?
GLOBAL knives are guaranteed against manufacture fault only. To determine the cause of damage, send an email to scanpanwarranty@scanpan.com with information about the damage and with a photo attachment for review by our Warranty department.
